Reminder: NYC Worker Wallet Card Requirement by July 1, 2025

Effective Date: November 1, 2024

As of November 1, 2024, course providers approved by the NYC Department of Buildings began issuing Worker Wallet Cards through the Training Connect platform, utilizing the same digital infrastructure previously used for Site Safety Training (SST) cards.

These cards became mandatory for construction workers as proof of certification for operating certain equipment and performing specialized tasks—such as working on scaffolds. By consolidating multiple credentials into one secure digital card, the Worker Wallet simplified compliance for both workers and employers.

Training certifications included in the Worker Wallet:

  • Mast Climber User/Operator and Refresher
  • Climber/Tower Crane Rigger
  • Rigging Supervisor & Worker
  • Supported Scaffold User & Installer
  • Suspended Scaffold User & Supervisor
  • Periodic Gas Piping Inspector

Similar to SST cards, scanning the Worker Wallet Card with the Training Connect App provided instant access to a worker’s full list of valid certifications.

Important: Workers who hold any of the listed certifications—such as scaffold users, riggers, or gas piping inspectors—and received their qualification cards before November 1, 2024, are required to upgrade to a Worker Wallet Card by July 1, 2025, in order to remain eligible to perform work that demands these credentials.

Where to Get Your Card

Visit a DOB-approved Course Provider to obtain your card. Providers may charge an administrative fee.

Note: The Worker Wallet Card does not replace SST Cards. Both are still required and linked via your Training Connect profile.
